For the past seventeen years, I have provided counseling and psychotherapy within a variety of settings to children, teens, individuals, couples, and families struggling with various life challenges. I have successfully treated clients both in short-term and long-term therapy. My special interest and extensive experience involves working with teenagers and couples. I have substantial experience with crisis intervention/prevention issues including depression/suicide, child abuse, domestic violence, and substance abuse. In addition to the above, my background, education, and experience includes: · Facilitation of psycho-educational therapy groups, support groups, and parenting groups/classes · Extensive training and eight years experience providing social services for children and families within the Child Welfare / Foster Care System · Youth counseling within elementary and middle school settings providing individual and group therapy for students struggling with various adolescent issues such as low self-esteem, divorced or blended families, decision-making difficulties, depression/suicide ideation, peer relationship concerns, drug/alcohol issues, child abuse, and anger management · Co-facilitation of educational training programs for high school students to assist those students into becoming peer assistants within their various high school settings · Substance abuse/dependency education and treatment In addition to providing psychotherapy to clients, I also provide supervision to interns working towards licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists. I obtained both my Master of Science degree in Counseling, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento. |
